Protect Your HopLink From Hijackers
There is always people on the Internet, when easy opportunity arises, will try to "cheat" or "rip off" from affiliates or vendors. As an affiliate, you can do your part to make it as difficult as possible to prevent thieves from taking away your commissions. For a minimum protection, hide your affiliate link using JavaScript. To protect your affiliate link even better, use a software program that will not allow thieves to make changes to your HopLink.
Hijacking
Hijacking is when a thief replaces your affiliate ID or Nickname with his/her own affiliate ID. Then he/she uses the modified URL link to purchase the product at a discount price. Thus, you won't make any commission.
Example Of Hijacking
This is your affiliate HopLink:
http://YourNickname.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net
This is a modified affiliate HopLink:
http://Hijacker'sNickname.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net
A Hijacker uses the modified affiliate HopLink to paste into the URL, and purchases the product or service at a discount price instead of you making a commission. What you can do to protect at minimum is to hide your HopLink with a simple line of JavaScript.
JavaScript Example:
This is your normal affiliate HopLink:
<a href="http://YourNickname.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net">Your Sales Pitch Link</a>
Hover your mouse over "Your Sales Pitch Link" above. You'll see your affiliate link information at the bottom of your window status bar.
This is how you can keep your affiliate HopLink hidden:
<a class="siteHeader" onmouseover="window.status='Click
for More Information';return true" onclick="window.status='';return
true" onmouseout="window.status='';return true" href="http://YourNickname.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net"
target="_top">Your Sales Pitch Link
Status Hidden</a>
