Grouping AdWords Related Keywords

Another important property in having a successful AdWords Campaign is how you group your keywords together. All of related keywords should be in one specific group for one AdWords Ad. Google will use your related keywords as one of the properties to calculate the quality of your ad. If you see keywords that have very high estimated bid prices, then those keywords maybe better off if you move them to another keywords group.

Spend some time in gathering related keywords for your ad. Later on, I will introduce you to two software tools Traffic Travis and Keyword Elite that have alot of benefits in the process of setting up your AdWords campaigns and could make a night-and-day difference in your Adwords success. For now, use Google's free keywords tool to help selecting your keywords. Get used to Google's keywords tool to gain the benefits, and to be able to compare your Google's keywords tools experience with another software.

Side Note: When you're selecting your keywords think from a customer's perspective. If you were the customer searching for the product that you sell, what would you search for? Make a list of as many search phrases and keywords as you can think of. Then refine your keywords list later.

Google Keywords Tool

To get to Google Keywords Tool click on the following:

Campaign Management | Campaign Name (e.g. Money) | Ad Group Name (e.g. Making Money) | Keywords Tap | Keyword Tool | Site-Related Keywords.

Enter the URL for the company that you’re promoting in the text area to the right of the "Get keywords" button (e.g. http://www.google-clickbank.com.) Uncheck the checkbox for "Include other pages on my site linked from this URL."

Keyword Popularity

At the bottom dropdown menu, select Keyword Popularity, and check the "Group keywords by common terms" checkbox. Now click on the "Get keywords" button. When you click on the "Get keywords" button, Google sends a computer program to crawl the website that you're promoting and collects data inlcuding a list of the associated keywords. When Google is done analyzing the web site, Google will display the results in groups of related keywords.

The following was what Google grouped together for my site at the time of writing http://www.google-clickbank.com:

making money (21), making money online(5), earn money (21), money maker(9), money (14), adword (6), affiliate (5), clickbank (3), Miscellaneous keywords (4)

Keywords Groups

The keywords groups produce by Google keyword tools are not 100% consistent. If you run the first check, then wait a few minutes and run another check. You will see a fluctuation in the searched results. The results are not the best, but they have enough quality to use for your AdWords campaigns.

Side Note: List all of your keywords into closely related or tight ad groups to achieve good CTR. The higher the CTR the less you'll end up paying for per click.
